Nehemiah Seeks God’s Forgiveness for Israelhttp://www.restorepower.com/rpower/home.do
Browse this website to gain insight into how electrical power can be restored after a natural disaster. What do the service persons have to do in order to restore power?
http://www.ehow.com/how_2122124_restore-painting.html
Ask a family member to read this article about how to restore a painting aloud. Discuss what the word “restore” means when it is used in connection with art. How is restoration of a painting like restoration of electrical power? How is it different?
Read Nehemiah 1:1-2:9. How did God “restore” Nehemiah? How does God restore us today?

Stephen Forgives His Accusers as They Stone Himhttp://www.goodthings.com/01_00_gl74.html
Click on this URL and scroll down to the heading, “A Priceless Valentine.” Read this story about the assignment one boy’s teacher gave her students’ parents.
• What made the assignment so special?
• What did you learn about using good words and actions?
• Do you think that this letter will be remembered by the son? Why or why not?Consider using this mother’s letter to her son as an example, and write “good letters” to members of your family.
http://www.nichemarketingideas.com/2/biblestoriesweb/39.htm
After reading the story of Stephen, think over these questions:
• How do you normally respond when someone hurts your feelings?
• Is it more difficult to forgive someone who has hurt you, especially after you have shown them love?
• How did Stephen show forgiveness?
• What actions might go with forgiveness?Showing love through actions often involves forgiveness. In our own strength, that is sometimes a difficult thing to do. Thankfully, God has provided examples of love and forgiveness through saints like Stephen, and ultimately through his own son, Jesus.

Peter Explains Belief in Jesushttp://www.woodruff-fp.co.uk/inheritancetaxwills.htm

http://www.legal-database.com/legal-requirements-will.htm
Consider the various tips regarding wills and inheritance that are offered at these websites. Then think about your “heavenly” inheritance.
Read 1 Peter 1:3-9 as a family and discuss the following items:
• Describe the inheritance that is explained in this passage of Scripture. How is a heavenly inheritance different from an inheritance on earth?
• What promises does God make regarding heaven? Why should this give us hope?
• How can we obtain this “heavenly” inheritance?Spend a few moments in prayer, thanking Jesus for paying the price of salvation so that we could be the children of God and inherit eternal life.

Jesus Raises Lazarus From the Deadhttp://www.antelope-ebooks.com/RELIGIOUS/Jesus/Jesus39.html
http://www.ainglkiss.com/stories/laz.htm/
http://www.kids-corner.info/myintouch/youth/k_lazarus_36944943.html
Click on these links to read the story of Lazarus. You may find that the third link is especially kid-friendly and appropriate for younger family members. Consider having different members of the family take turns reading the various story versions aloud. Then talk about some of the following topics that relate to the story:
When Jesus told Martha that Lazarus would be resurrected, she thought he was talking about “the last days.” Martha wasn’t completely wrong in her assumption, but she didn’t quite have the “big picture.” Although Jesus did raise Lazarus from the dead that day, he also explained to Martha that he was the resurrection.
ASK • What did Jesus mean by that?
• How does Jesus work miracles in our lives today?
• Can you think of ways that Jesus gives Christians hope? As a family, make a list of these. -

Jesus Talks With the Samaritan Womanhttp://www.ec.gc.ca/water/en/manage/poll/e_life.htm

Check out these Web sites that explain how water is an essential part of life. How long do you think you could last without a drink of water? Can you find research to support your answer?
Just as we cannot survive without physical water, life is futile without the living water that only Jesus can give. How long do you think you could last without Jesus? Explain.
Discuss the gift of living water. How do you think it changed the Samaritan woman’s life? How might it change yours?

Read the story of the “wordless book.” Each page shows you a different color and then tells you a story. What does the wordless book say we should do with sin? Then what does God do? Have you ever believed and received the Lord Jesus so you could become God’s child?
http://christiancrafters.com/colorsofchrist.html
Follow the steps at the Christian Crafter Web page to make a “wordless cross” that is much like the story you just read. How can this cross help you tell others about the good news of Jesus?
Read Psalm 51:9-10. Discuss the following questions:
• How do you think God makes our hearts clean again after sin is confessed?
• According to verse 10, how does having a clean heart help a person’s spirit?
• How do you think God feels when we say we’re sorry for our sins?Place the wordless cross that you made in the center of your kitchen or dining room table. Let each family member put one hand over the cross, laying hands one on top of another. Bow your heads, and without talking out loud, thank Jesus for the wordless and timeless message of the Cross.

Check out this doctor’s advice for taking care of yourself when you have a cold or the flu. Is there a prescription that will help?
Read Matthew 5:44 to find the prescription for treating hatred. How should we deal with an enemy?
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being with us when we face difficult times and difficult people. Even when it seems that things are beyond our understanding, we know that you are in control and that you will give us an extra measure of love for those who call themselves our enemies.

Week 11: Paul’s Jailer Believes in Jesus (Acts 16:16-34)
Bible Study: Jesus saves us.http://www.yougottabelieve.org/
http://www.bluepenguindevelopment.com/newsletters/2003_04_25.html
http://www.nbc10.com/nfl081/2756838/detail.html
What theme is common to all three of these sites? What sorts of things are people called upon to believe? Would you believe in a philosophy? How about an athletic team? Would you believe in Jesus? Why or why not?
Read Acts16:16-34. What did the jailer have to do to be saved? What must we do today to be saved?
At each URL given, the focus of the site was on the catch phrase “you gotta believe.” Say that phrase together. Start softly and then speak louder as you repeat “you gotta believe” several times as a family.
How can you be saved? You know the answer: “You gotta believe!”

Week 2: Jesus Tells the Parable of the Lost Son (Luke 15:11-32)
Bible Study: God will forgive us when we sin.Link: http://www.randallmhasson.com/Repentance%20Page.htm
Study this artwork entitled “Repentance.” Discuss what you think “repenting” means. Invite everyone in the family to share a time he or she repented of an attitude, thought, or action.http://www.diynet.com/diy/le_kids_parties/article/0,2041,DIY_14024_2278740,00.html
Take a moment to consider the interesting party ideas that are presented in this article. What sort of party did the father of the prodigal son give?
Read Luke 15:11-32. Discuss the following questions:
What sin did the prodigal son commit? To whom did he repent? How did the father respond to the son’s repentance?
How do you think the son felt after he repented and turned from his sinful way of life?
Spend a few moments talking about how God must feel when his children repent. How do you think God celebrates? Maybe with a party in heaven? What do you think?
